Testing, testing... 1, 2, 3... mic check...

Welcome all to the wonderful world of chaos and terror that is my humble dungeon. Please note the designated smoldering areas and make sure you wipe down the torture equipment when you're through. I'm your host, The Library Overlord, and for the foreseeable future (or until I get bored) I'll be taking you on a bloodcurdling tour of the exciting world of libraries, role playing games, video games, comic books, web comics, movies, music, and much, much more.

As a brief intro, let me give you a few basic vital statistics about myself. I'm a 27 year old male librarian who works at a large university library in the USA (Henceforth known as The Dungeon). I'm not sure yet how much of this blog will focus on the weirder-than-you-think world of the library and how much will focus on other stuff.

My free time is generally divided between my weekly role playing group, video games, general laziness, and starting this next fall, grad school,nd somehow in there I try to squeeze in time for my wonderful loving wife, Mrs. Overlord. I'll be expounding at great length on these and many other topics on here for the foreseeable future.I'm also a confirmed Wikipedia-addict, so don't be surprised to randomly stumble on link-landmines to articles as well as other fun web pages every once in a while. Also, I'll be posting links to some of my friends blogs and other fun web pages, since they're certainly a lot more exciting than the god-awful drivel I'll be posting on this one.

Anyways, enough of the introductory stuff. I'm sure you can pick up the rest as you go. On to the fun stuff.

I just got Rock Band for the X-Box 360 a few days ago and it has since been consuming my brain. Not only is it one of the best video games to date, it also has a pretty good soundtrack of songs to play, many of which are horrifically catchy and can embed themselves firmly in your temporal lobe to the extent that not even The Macarena has a hope in Hell of dislodging them. I have to say, I've always been very sensitive to music and the emotional impact behind it, and the emotional high this game can give you is unlike anything else short of actually playing a real instrument. The feeling I got when I first rocked out to Boston's "Foreplay/Long Time" was incredible.

So I've beaten the solo tour on the guitar mode on medium difficulty, and I'm THIS close to getting five stars on all the songs. Only two songs have yet to fall before the awesome might of my stratocaster. One of them is the incredibly difficult "Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld", and the other I can't remember the title of right now, which is ridiculous because I must have played it about thirteen dozen times by now trying to 5-star it. Anyway, I'll get there. As soon as I can find the preserved hand of Jimmy Hendrix and attach it to my severed arm stump Vecna-style.

Awwwwwwww snap. Not until after I set up the blog. Don't worry, I'll change it. Sorry about that. Who'd a thought there'd be two people out there who decided to use such an obscure reference. :)
